Alt Home Brew Challenge A Düsseldorf specialty, an Altbier is a German style brown ale, was the subject of the May DB 15's Home Brew Showdown. Twelve Alts were judged in a blind tasting by all club members in attendance. Each brewer, per contest rules, had to use the same recipe so this was truly a contest of brewing skill. The DB15's June 10th meeting will be our biggest tasting event
ever! All beers were personally selected by beer writer Dan Hodge using the
criteria that "Summer" must be in the beer name. We will be tasting Otter Creek
Summer Otter, Harpoon Summer Beer, Anchor Summer Beer, Mendocino Summer
Ale, SmuttyNose Summer Weizen, Flying Fish Farmhouse Summer Ale,
Sam Adams Summer Ale, and maybe a surprise or two.
Don't miss sampling some great summer brews, a "match the beer with the style"
contest, and all the fun of a DB15 meeting! See you on Sunday, June 10, 3 PM!

| Rich Shannon made Draughtboard 15 history as the first person ever to win two gold medals in our Home Brew Showdowns - and they were back to back! (Click here to read a special interview with Rich) Tony Soboti was busy bartending at Gaslight when he heard the news of his silver medal success. In only his 3rd competition Tony has become one of the club's best home brewers. Kimberly Strickland 's bronze medal victory makes her the first female to ever win a medal in our competition. Even more impressive was that this was her first ever brew! |
