| The Big Chill It’s the classic dilemma – how do you chill a lukewarm can of beer or bottle of wine and do it quickly? Enter the Blast Chiller – a new feature in LG Electronics Inc.’s premium refrigerators available later this year – which promises to turn that room-temperature 12-ounce can brew (or soda) frosty in five minutes. Want to chill a bottle of wine? Eight minutes. It’s the same amount of time to cool two cans at the same time. LG said the new technology blasts the cans with icy-cold air gusts with the power of a jet engine. (This is not a joke.) In order to ensure that ice crystals don’t form, the system gently swirls the cans while the cold air blows. The company’s work developing other home appliances played a key role in the development of the Blast Chiller. The jet-powered cooling system stems from LG’ s work developing its air conditioners, while the gentle shaking is derived from its work in building washing machines. |
| You don't say..... Russian Prime Minister Vladamir Putinpleased football fans by promising a review of the current ban on the sale of beer at Russian football stadiums. Russia is due to host the World Cup for the first time in 2018. Russian law even prohibits beer adverts on football pitches. -------------------------- Why is beer froth always white? Beer foam consists of tiny bubbles of carbon dioxide the walls of which are made up of various proteins and carbohydrates. Because of that the bubbles reflect all the light creating what we see as white. ----------------------------- This years winners of the annual World Series of Beer Pong are Matt White and Ross Hampton who came out on top after beating out 449 teams to take home the $50,000 prize. Hampton said the secret to his team's success in the tournament was "staying sober to play well consistently." -------------------------------- Gloria Crisantes Salazar, 39, was arrested for transporting beer from Tennessee to Alabama. She had 15 cases containing 40-ounce bottles of Bud Light in her vehicle. She was cited for ransporting untaxed alcohol into Alabama (the state collects 2 percent of the purchase price); transporting more than 5 gallons of alcohol in her vehicle and for having the alcohol in the backseat rather than in the trunk. Total possible sentence one to six years in prison. What people will do for Bud Light. |
