Abdication Beer Dutch Brewers have stepped in to celebrate the man who just became king after a reputedly boozy time as a student at Leiden university that earned him the nickname “Prince Pils,’ after the Pilsner type of lager. The brewers have produced a limited edition beer honouring the new monarch and his abdicating mother, Queen Beatrix. Not to be outdone, Royal-themed products have come from many other manufacturers. Perhaps the most unexpected unusual was a manhole cover with a commemorative drain cover featuring the royal couple’s silhouette. The company, Aquafix Milieu, has given a manhole to each of the Netherlands 408 districts, and one has already been laid on Amsterdam’s main Dam square. --------------- Tasting Record A Netherlands pub is now the former holder of the Guinness World Record for the largest beer tasting (267) participants.
