| Iconic Beer Returns Texas' iconic Pearl Beer will be making a return to the beer scene after a long hiatus. ‘Pearl xXx’, the new marketed name, will feature a new design and a new formula for beer lovers The beer will be brewed with the help of Austin-based brewery Oasis Texas Brewing. It was previously brewed in Fort Worth and then eventually in San Antonio for more than 100 years.“We used a bit more of a craft approach to making this beer, producing it on a smaller scale, for a fresher beer,” Daniel Crawford, brand manager for Pearl Beer said. “It’s a modern take on a classic American lager ― crisp, smooth and easy drinking with a touch of citrus,” Colorado Breweries Unite 125 Colorado breweries will brew the same beer at the same time. They are making are making a batch of Colorado Strong pale ale in an effort to raise money for people affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The participating breweries are starting with the same recipe, which uses all Colorado ingredients, though some are putting their own unique spin on the beer. Described as “hazy,” the double New England IPA clocks in at 9.0% ABV, in other words, strong enough to be a worthy tribute. Stella's First New Beer Stella’s long awaited first-ever beer brewed especially for summer will soon be coming your way nationally. Solstice Lager is a golden lager made with 100% barley malt, European hops, subtle citrus notes and triple filtered for a smooth taste and a crisp finish. The bottled beer will be sold in six and 12 packs and will be priced the same as the original Stella Artois (from roughly $8 to $10 for six and $12 to $15 for 12 bottles). Beer Sales Grow / Seltzer Soars Off-premise beer sales are continuing to grow amid the coronavirus pandemic. According to market research firm IRI volume sales of beer increased 24.4% during the four-week period ending May 17, 2020 (compared to the same time frame last year).Meanwhile, off-premise beer sales accelerated over the four-week period ending June 27, growing 13% compared to the preceding four-week period. Year-to-date off-premise beer sales are up 12.8%, the firm reported, driven by the continued growth of flavored malt beverages (FMBs), import offerings and craft beer. Through June14 sales of FMBs, including hard seltzer products, are up 86.8%. Much of that comes from soaring sales of Mark Anthony Brands’ White Claw black cherry flavor is also up 260% on the year, while its mango flavor is up 710%.Volume sales of Boston Beer's SAM ’s Truly hard seltzer mixed berry variety pack are also up 156% year-to-date and its tropical mixed variety is up 563%. |
